Yamucha & Puar

Yamucha is a girl-shy teenager/martial artist, and one of Goku's oldest friends.  Puar is Yamucha's shape-shifting, longtime companion and friend.   Yamucha and Puar were living in the desert as bandits when they came across Goku and company.  Originally intending to steal the Dragonballs from the gang (so Yamucha could wish for a girlfriend), they end up joining them against Emperor Pilaf.  In the end he comes to repect Goku and gets Bulma as an on-again off-again girlfriend.  He eventually trains under Master Roshi, like Goku and Krillin did.  At the end of Dragonball he is 22.
