After marrying Goku and having their first son, Chichi was perfectly content to settle in as an average housewife. For reasons unknown, she was absolutely opposed to having her child train in the martial arts, believing that there was no longer a need for fighters. Like most parents, Chichi is overprotective of her firstborn and tends to do the worrying for both her and her husband.
With the birth of her second child Goten we see her relax quite a bit. While still strict with her not training, just school work attitude with Gohan, she's allowed Goten a much more lax childhood. She even goes so far as to train Goten herself, though she forbids him from going super saiya-jin. (too many bad memories)
