A former monk and an accomplished martial artist and warrior Kuririn still is vastly underestimated by his enemies. He seems to have the worst of luck, constantly being pitted against opponents whose power far surpasses his own. This contributes to his low self-esteem. The man just doesn't have much confidence in himself until after he marries Juuhachigo. Despite his short comings (no pun intended). Kuririn is still a devoted husband and father and a caring and loyal friend.
